The Bear started life in 2014 as a small laneway venue in Sydney Chinatown. It grew quickly and moved to a larger basement site in Capitol Square Haymarket with a capacity of 100 people.

The Bear was created by Owner Andy Curtis and Grace Gao, who wanted to create a cozy intimate and friendly neighbourhood style bar in the city. 

So slip into the subterranean world winter lodge and you will be greeted with the warmest of welcomes, comfy sofas, Christmas trees and the odd bear.

At The Bear, we are passionate about our service, food, cocktails and most importantly our customers.
